Just some random Vietnam-era stuff piled on the back of the troop-carrier Deuce (2.5 ton truck).

This was taken as we were getting ready to head back home after being in a local Fourth of July Parade representing the Cold War Museum.

nice... Although the M16 is dodgey at times it is a nice looking weapon and i bet the marines etc are glad they made the M16A2 (or just A) lol alot more reliable and accurate is it not? Anyways nice shot, hope you had fun at the parade thing

What makes you think the M16 is "dodgey" at times?

I know that when the M16 was first introduced, there were a number of issues with it - as there are with pretty much anything when it's "first introduced", but overall the M16 is a very reliable weapon. The thing to know about it is that it absolutely needs to be kept clean in order to function properly - which is really no big deal as it's easy to field-strip and clean. The first run of M16s used in Vietnam did not have the forward assist - so the addition of that made a difference.

*lol* That particular helmet belongs to a (real life) officer who's also a re-enactor - I guess he didn't feel it was appropriate. My better half has two 1000 dong notes and an Impeach Nixon button on his.

Thats what i meant... Now its more reliable and the soldiers know more about it as such but when it was first implemented like you said it had some issues.. i agree its a nice weapon...

I still prefer the F88 AuStyer :-D Bullpup FTW

We've gone almost exclusively to M4 type rifles now.

I would prefer the M16 over the M4 due to hitting power and range. Although the M4 Looks nice :-D and is more compact and lighter (correct?) anyways the m16 and the M4 are on my list of weapons to use one day :-D.
